Abstract
► Cell and tissue cultures were established from Larrea divaricata plants. ► These in vitro cultures were investigated for their potential to synthesize phenolic compounds. ► A relationship between morphological differentiation and phenolic compound is presented. ► The in vitro cultures did not show the same phenolic pattern as wild plants. ► The major product found in all types of cultures was NDGA.
