Abstract
⺠I present models of two new hypotheses regarding evolution of hyperaccumulation. ⺠The Defensive Enhancement Hypothesis suggests it evolved as a plant defense. ⺠The Joint Effects Hypothesis suggests combinations of chemicals were involved. ⺠These hypotheses can guide explorations of ecology and evolution of hyperaccumuation.
