Abstract
⺠Genomic in situ hybridization (GISH) was used to study the genome constitution of Begonia Ã chungii. ⺠GISH analyses provide that B. Ã chungii is a natural F1 hybrid between B. longifolia and B. palmata. ⺠The genome compositions of the parental species, B. longifolia and B. palmata, was also identified by GISH analyses. ⺠The putative parent species share the partially homologous genomes derived from a common ancestral genome.
