Identification of candidate genes in Arabidopsis and Populus cell wall biosynthesis using text-mining, co-expression network analysis and comparative genomics

► We developed a novel pipeline for identifying cell wall biosynthesis genes. ► We identified 694 cell wall associated genes in Arabidopsis. ► 817 cell wall associated candidate genes in Populus were identified. ► Gene ontology and tissue-specific gene expression were studied.
