Abstract
Bacterial growth responses upon rewetting soils dried for 4-days (red) or 1-year (blue). Bacterial growth starts to increase linearly immediately after rewetting a 4-days dried soil. In soils dried for 1-year, bacterial growth starts to increase exponentially after a 16Â h lag-phase of no growth.
