Abstract
⺠Mean residence times of PyOM are only 5-6 times longer than fire-unaffected SOM. ⺠After vegetation fires, a small fraction of fresh charcoal is highly bio-accessible. ⺠During degradation of PyOM, microbes can use its aromatic C for biomass built-up.
