Abstract
SummaryThe two co-activators of the anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C), Cdc20 and Cdh1, facilitate ubiquitination by the core complex, but their role in conferring substrate specificity has been contentious. A new report reveals that Cdc20-bound APC/C initiates the timely proteolysis of many Cdh1 substrates with the exception of the Aurora kinases. Failure to degrade Aurora kinases results in abnormal anaphase microtubule organisation and premature cytokinesis.
