Abstract
This work is focused on the evaluation of lipase production by Geotrichum candidum in shaken-flasks and bench-scale bioreactor using different impellers. The effects of temperature, initial pH, peptone, NaNO3, MgSO4 and soy oil concentrations in the enzyme production were evaluated using the experimental design methodology. The optimum conditions in shaken flasks were 3.0% of peptone and 0.5% of soy oil, with initial pH of 7.0, 30 °C and 250 rpm reaching approximately 16 U mL−1. The lipase production was also studied in a bench-scale stirred bioreactor, where the Rushton turbine and pitched blade up were appropriated impellers for this process.
