Abstract
•Studies manipulating predator stimuli help us understand antipredator behaviour.•We reviewed such studies to assess rates of pseudoreplication in predator stimuli.•Predator stimuli often are used more than once but treated as independent trials.•We advocate true replication in predator stimuli in antipredator behaviour studies.
