Abstract
⺠We analyzed the biochemical composition of mussel early developmental stages. ⺠Embryogenesis was supported by triglyceride and ester reserves stored in eggs. ⺠Docosahexaenoic acid played a structural role during embryonic development. ⺠Non methylene interrupted dienoic fatty acids were present throughout development. ⺠Lipid fraction increased in postlarvae with respect to pediveliger larvae.
