Abstract
► We analyzed the biochemical composition of mussel early developmental stages. ► Embryogenesis was supported by triglyceride and ester reserves stored in eggs. ► Docosahexaenoic acid played a structural role during embryonic development. ► Non methylene interrupted dienoic fatty acids were present throughout development. ► Lipid fraction increased in postlarvae with respect to pediveliger larvae.
