Abstract
► In male ovenbirds, some features were much more variable among songs than were others. ► A given male's songs varied little in the duration or in the number of units composing the song. ► The most variable aspect was the placement of the peak amplitude within the song. ► Variety in bird song sessions can be yielded by other means than the use of a varied song repertoire.
