Abstract
Pathogenic bacteria adversely affect the health and productivity of sheep in a variety of production systems. This paper provides a guide to the major bacterial diseases of sheep, outlines best practice for collection and transport of appropriate samples to a diagnostic laboratory and summarises laboratory techniques used to identify the pathogens.
