Abstract
Parrots are among the few animal groups which are kept more in private than in zoo aviaries. Zoos therefore have a central role in presenting their parrots to the public, especially due to a biological based parrot husbandry and suitable exhibit labels. With regard to the main systematic groups of parrots, which are presently kept in zoos and private aviaries, several examples of appropriate and deficient exhibits of parrots in some German zoos are discussed.
