Abstract
► Squat lobster Uroptychus naso revealed to be three cryptic species. ► Mitochondrial lineages and morphology reveal populations of one species and two new species. ► Uroptychus naso occurs from Japan to northern Western Australia. ► Uroptychus pinocchio n. sp. occurs from Japan to the Philippines. ► Uroptychus cyrano n. sp. is confined to north-western Australia. ► Fossils suggest an early Eocene ancestor and divergence of U. naso in the Miocene.
