Abstract
Our results confirmed that the additional intake of ascorbate improves the tissue antioxidative defense. Probably acting through enhanced insulin release, vitamin C also exerted some metabolic effects, which emphasize its role in the regulation of IBAT functions under normal physiological conditions.
