A new practical unit for the assessment of the heat exchange of human body with the environment

1.The definition of clo unit was briefly reviewed in this paper.2.On the basis of the general heat balance equation and heat exchange between a clothed body and the environment, a physiological model was evolved to determine the air temperature at which an average man wearing indoor clothing feels comfortable under a typical normal indoor condition.3.A new practical unit for describing the thermal property of a clothed body was then proposed. The statistical analysis revealed that the new unit value correlated well with the comfort air temperature of the clothed body.4.The new unit will facilitate the clothing manufacturers, the consumers and the researchers to mutually understand the common interest.
