Abstract
With the introduction of sevelamer carbonate, phosphorus levels decreased by up to 2.1Â g/dl, 40% of the patients were well controlled according to K-DOQUI criteria, and the number of sevelamer doses significantly decreased. The optimal dose of sevelamer carbonate was between 2 and 3 sachets per day. Up to 50% of patients could be controlled with monotherapy. Greater treatment adherence was achieved and the percentage of compliant patients increased from 55 to 75%. Adverse effects fell to 10%.
