Abstract
The current situation of vascular access in the province of Caceres is far from ideal. A large percentage of patients start hemodialysis through temporary catheters that remain inserted for prolonged periods. Among permanent vascular access devices, the percentage of native fistulae and the rate of permanent catheters are acceptable but do not comply with current guidelines.
