Abstract
In conclusion, most of the workers were female, aged 30-39 years old, with twelfth-grade education, and an acceptable level of information on biosafety for this educational level. The incidence of sepsis and nosocomial infections was low among these workers. Staff showed an acceptable perception of risk of exposure to biological agents. More than two-thirds of the workers evaluated compliance with protection norms and hygiene as adequate. In 2005, the incidence of hepatitis C in patients was low and there were no cases among health workers, all of whom had been vaccinated against the hepatitis B virus.
