Abstract
A review of the workflow in the intervention unit of our department revealed that a large proportion of patients from other health areas attended our center to undergo vascular access procedures. Among the patients aged less than 65 years old referred from other health areas, there was a clear, but non-significant, demand for renal replacement therapy. When admissions were grouped by processes, we found that the mean weighted procedure was < 1 weight higher than expected. The causes may be population dispersion, the geographical size, and the age of patients in our health area.
