Abstract
The aim of preparing this consensus was to aid nephrologists in the management of mineral metabolism in patients with chronic kidney disease. First, we formulated questions that required answers for the clinical management of these patients. Literature sources and international guidelines were consulted with a view to adapting them to the Argentine context. The new definitions and the more integrated system recently proposed by the Kidney Disease - Improving Global Outcomes Foundation have been taken into account. The present chapter discusses the treatment of hyperphosphatemia and calcium maintenance in patients with chronic kidney disease stage 5 under dialysis.
