Abstract
⺠We address the individual movement rule behind population level distribution. ⺠We consider the memory mechanism with landscape heterogeneity and persistence. ⺠Sedentarism occurs in persistent landscapes when spatial memory is short. ⺠Highly persistent landscapes and/or large memory facilitate migration. ⺠Nomadism occurs for low levels of landscape persistence and short spatial memory.
