Abstract
Several forms of intransitive loops are investigated with regard to their stabilizing properties in simple dynamic models. The intransitive loops are stabilizing when there is an odd number of species in the system. Furthermore, an intransitive loop can stabilize a chain of negative interactions that would otherwise be unstable.
