Disturbance metrics predict a wetland Vegetation Index of Biotic Integrity

► We develop predictive models for an index of wetland vegetation integrity. ► Independent variables were 20 indices of habitat quality, disturbance, and land use. ► Best predictor was a metric that assessed habitat alteration and development. ► Secondary predictor was a metric of microtopography and interspersion. ► Vegetation integrity is most directly affected by local habitat disturbances.
