Abstract
⺠We estimated three environmental indices over a newly reclaimed area in Egypt. ⺠We examined environmental indicators of soil, climate, vegetation, water, and management in two time series (1984 and 2008). ⺠We accounted for the local characteristics to increase the reliability of the results. ⺠The study area is highly susceptible to degradation. ⺠Proper management is needed to overcome deterioration and achieve sustainability.
