- EMAS Environmental Statements of 119 Italian Local Authorities (L.A.) are analyzed.
- Environmental aspects linked to L.A. activities and related indicators (76) are analyzed.
- 76 indicators have been compared and contrasted with EMAS III core indicators.
- EMAS III indicators are applicable but cover few environmental issues faced by L.A.
- A new set of 13 environmental indicators is proposed as a reference for L.A.
