Abstract
► A new avenue for climate reconstruction is to use process-based transfer functions. ► Our model includes a DGVM and processes linking vegetation to pollen in sediments. ► Calibration of the Bayesian hierarchical model is performed by parallel MCMC. ► Parameter estimates for pollen production, dispersal and accumulation are provided. ► Inversion is needed for palaeoclimate reconstruction and DGVM calibration.
