Abstract
⺠We improve the simulation of tree height in a forest succession model. ⺠Volume growth is explicitly allocated to diameter vs. height growth. ⺠Maximum tree heights are allowed to respond to changing site conditions. ⺠Model accuracy improved, while general applicability was not negatively influenced. ⺠Simulated forest productivity under climate change is quite sensitive to these changes.
