Abstract
► We modelled the effects of river network shape and habitat on lamprey distribution. ► The relative importance of habitat and network shape depended on habitat availability. ► Consequently, the best spatial scale for understanding lampreys was context-dependent. ► Spatial dynamics of larval lampreys are likely highly varied among river systems.
