Abstract
► We analyze the expansion of the native-invasive Retama monosperma in coastal dunes. ► Impacts on the ecosystem are comparable to those caused by allochthonous species. ► The shrub alters the sedimentary dynamics, microclimate and faunal distributions. ► It favors adventitious plant species but negatively affects to specific dune flora. ► Causes related with human disturbance, habitat/community traits and spread ecology.
