Abstract
⺠A breeding bird survey monitor common breeding species in France since 1989. ⺠This scheme provides trends in species numbers and community structure. ⺠Official biodiversity indicators are developed from the count data. ⺠Bio-economic dynamic models provide scenarios of sustainable farming and logging. ⺠We highlight the necessity of such volunteer monitoring for policy makers.
