Abstract
⺠Network analyses are a popular tool to study frugivory and seed dispersal mutualisms. ⺠We suggest new research avenues to connect network models to ecological processes. ⺠Using a field study, we empirically tested a network model prediction. ⺠Model predictions were refuted because the model ignored key behavioral and habitat details. ⺠Opportunities lie ahead to use network models to generate process-based hypotheses and field tests.
