Abstract
⺠The proportion of animals surviving fire is largely dependent on the spatial heterogeneity of the forest floor. ⺠Contribution of eggs survived fire in the soil to the overall animal abundance was negligible. ⺠Abundance and biomass of all fauna groups studied was more sensitive to fire than species richness.
