Abstract
ⶠThe chemical and biological status of sugarcane and pasture soils was compared. ⶠSoils under grass pasture had nearly twice as much C and N as cropped soils. ⶠThe biology of sugarcane soils was poor relative to soils under pasture. ⶠSome soil properties improved after 5-7 years of a new sugarcane farming system. ⶠThis response indicated an improvement in soil health.
