Abstract
▶ Application of urea increased microbial activity as evidenced by emissions of CO2. ▶ N2O emission was due to nitrification and urea increased while C2H2 inhibited it. ▶ Emissions of CH4 were small, and urea and C2H2 had little or no effect on it. ▶ Wetting the soil doubled CO2 emission and N2O emission >100 times.
