Abstract
ⶠApplication of urea increased microbial activity as evidenced by emissions of CO2. ⶠN2O emission was due to nitrification and urea increased while C2H2 inhibited it. ⶠEmissions of CH4 were small, and urea and C2H2 had little or no effect on it. ⶠWetting the soil doubled CO2 emission and N2O emission >100 times.
