Abstract
► We develop an integrated method to assess the species-specific habitat fragmentation. ► The ecological niche requirements and dispersal capability are considered. ► We assess the patch isolation and within patch fragmentation of two sympatric species. ► Chinese Grouse is even more threatened due to the severely fragmented habitat. ► It can be applied in risk ranking and conservation in a wide range of animal species.
