Abstract
⺠We tracked 20 endangered kokako following a translocation employing playback to reduce dispersal. ⺠Dispersal was less than predicted by a “random walk” model. ⺠Birds did not discriminate between neighborhood-specific song playback following release. ⺠Habitat use was based on suitability not availability. ⺠Successful pair formation was not specific to vocal origin.
