Abstract
► We assessed the genetic diversity of a recent colonization. ► Genetic diversity remained reduced in the founding population within a few generations. ► Founding population was genetically differentiated from the source population. ► Individuals from the founding population dispersed back to the source population. ► Territoriality and longevity likely increased the strength of the founding event.
