Abstract
The presented research included laboratory scale composting of sewage sludge and woodchips mixtures amended with biochar in 45Â L reactor system conducted for 16 days. The effect of biochar amendment on ammonia emission was investigated. The addition of biochar reduced significantly volatilization of ammonia during the first week of the process. Also, the addition of biochar increased temperature and organic matter decomposition.
