Abstract
⺠We challenge the idea that function of wood is a matter size, stability, and decay. ⺠We examine the role wildfires may play in affecting functionality of recruited wood. ⺠Function predictors: diameter, rootwads, anchoring, position, distance, length ratio. ⺠Wildfires had indirect effects on function. ⺠Relatively long pieces may in fact provide less function to the stream.
