Abstract
⺠We investigated prey preferences of juvenile and adult western rock lobsters. ⺠We investigated handling time and diet quality of prey to explain prey choice. ⺠Large lobsters chose mussels and crabs more frequently than gastropods and urchins. ⺠Juvenile and medium sized mature lobsters preferred crabs over other prey items. ⺠Lobsters' choice in prey may be explained by handling time rather than diet quality.
