Abstract
⺠Responses to escapable and inescapable hypoxia were compared in S. lalandi. ⺠S. lalandi do not alter their average swimming speed within hypoxic conditions. ⺠Nor do they avoid progressively hypoxic conditions when they are escapable. ⺠No physiological stress was evident when progressive hypoxia is escapable.
