Abstract
Coyote (Canis latrans) distribution range has broadly expanded during the last 30 years in tropical areas of Mexico and Central America. This paper provides the first record of coyotes in the state of Campeche, Mexico. Using photo trapping, from May 2009 to July 2012, we obtained 29 records of coyotes from 7 sites located in the western portion of the state. The record of coyotes in Campeche increases from 15 to 16 the number of carnivore species reported for the state.
