Modelling the fate of water and nitrogen in the mixed vegetable farming systems of northern Tasmania, Australia

► This paper analyses the fate of N and H2O in mixed vegetable-based farms. ► Drainage losses >100 mm were apparent for all crop elements across all farms. ► Crop N demand was found to be close to N supply for all crops except potato. ► Crop N supply exceeded N demand by 89 kg N/ha. ► N leaching losses under potato were 32 kg N/ha cf. <10 kg N/ha for other crops.
