Abstract
⺠A fading memory model to study the behavior of airway smooth muscles is developed. ⺠Finite duration length steps and longitudinal oscillations are considered. ⺠The model confirms trends of cross-bridge cycling observed in experimental data. ⺠The tissue length change and frequency significantly affects cross-bridge cycling. ⺠A strong correlation exists between increasing frequency and declining stiffness.
