Abstract
⺠We examine universality of population genetics models outside the diffusion limit. ⺠We study a substitution model for monomorphic haploid populations. ⺠A scaling law of substitution rates arises for a large class of models. ⺠This leads to reversibility and dominance of weak selection in steady state.
