Abstract
⺠Average genetic progress for grain yield and other agronomic traits were estimated. ⺠The breeding program of common bean of Embrapa in Brazil was efficient. ⺠The estimated annual genetic progress for grain yield was 17.3 kg haâ1. ⺠There was annual genetic progress for plant architecture and tolerance to lodging. ⺠There was genetic progress in grain quality of common bean of commercial group Carioca.
