Abstract
⺠Environmental factors driving G Ã E interactions of sugarcane under rainfed conditions in South Africa were investigated using AMMI analysis. ⺠Age at harvest, temperature and water stress differences caused separation of sugarcane mega-environments. ⺠An appropriate water stress index was identified to characterize future multi-environment trials. ⺠New regional subdivisions are suggested for future selection programmes. ⺠Environmental factors influencing site selection within different mega-environments were identified.
