Abstract
⺠39 terpenoids and 8 isozymes are used for the characterization of 12 natural Tunisian Thymbra capitata populations. ⺠Essential oil composition varied among populations. ⺠A high genetic diversity within and among population was revealed by isozymes. ⺠The population structure performed on the two sets of data was similar to that shown using isozymes. ⺠Conservation strategies should take into account genetic diversity and chemical variation levels.
