Abstract
⺠In western Kenya larger grain borer flight activity is high in maize-producing regions. ⺠The activity of the predatory Teretrius nigrescens is undetectable. ⺠LGB flight activity is related to relative humidity, temperature and vapour pressure deficit and to previous generations of LGB. ⺠Greater and more diverse T. nigrescens releases may reduce local extinction of the predator and promote its establishment. ⺠Climatic models that predict LGB flight activity cannot separate the effect of climatic factors from those of predation by T. nigrescens.
